Art and Music
Music
Whether with their voice or chosen instrument, children really do benefit from a musical education. Twice per week, students spend time with talented, dedicated music teachers in the music room. They learn basic singing principles, such as pitch and rhythm, and, later on, subjects like musical literacy, composition and expression. Instrumental music begins in the fourth grade with all the students, and in the fifth grade, students can choose an instrument and receive tailored lessons.
Visual Arts
Self-expression is such an important and personal journey for all children. That’s why every Village School student spends two days per week in one of two dedicated art studios learning about and working with a variety of media. Our skilled teachers outline foundational techniques while also helping students express their own creativity. These in-class lessons are complemented by field trips that open their minds and broaden their perspectives.
