College Counseling
At Chadwick, our approach to college counseling is student-centered because we believe that students are most fulfilled by their choice of college when they’re the ones driving the process and the decision. Parents are involved throughout to ensure transparency and appropriate collaboration.
We kick off college counseling in the spring before students start the ninth grade with a meeting among ninth graders and their families, an Upper School administrator and a Dean of College Counseling. At these meetings, students take the lead beginning to map out a four-year plan that supports their unique hopes and aspirations that aligns with Chadwick’s academic and co-curricular opportunities.
Program Highlights
- Student-to-counselor ratios of 23:1, enabling us to really get to know our students.
- Access to industry-leading college planning software tools including “College Kickstart” and “Scoir.”
- Group seminar classes for each Upper School grade level that focus on personal development, strengths, interest inventories and college planning.
- A series of educational events that provide real-time information on college admission trends and updates, including an annual Fall College Night, and "State of Standardized Testing" and financial overview presentations.
Foundational to the whole process is our strong curriculum that prepares students academically, emotionally and socially for study at the collegiate level. Our Deans of College Counseling, all of whom have experience as both college counselors and as senior-level admission officers at selective colleges, help guide this process. They care deeply about helping students find the school that’s best suited for them, and each brings a strong understanding of the college admissions process from a variety of angles.
It’s through this dynamic approach that 100% of Chadwick graduates plan to attend a four-year college.
